Eligibility Criteria – Clear & Inclusive
- Age Requirement: Between 16-30 years old. EVA welcomes high school, undergraduate, and young professional participants globally.
- Educational Background: Currently enrolled in secondary, undergraduate, or graduate education, or recent graduates. Academic discipline is irrelevant—all backgrounds welcome.
- Debate Experience: No prior debate experience required! EVA welcomes novices and experienced debaters equally. What matters is passion for ideas and willingness to engage thoughtfully.
- Language Proficiency: English fluency required as debates conducted in English. Non-native speakers absolutely welcome—commitment to dialogue matters more than native proficiency.
- Global Origin: Participants welcomed from all countries. EVA actively encourages applications from underrepresented regions and diverse backgrounds for global representation.
- Commitment & Motivation: Demonstrate genuine interest in global issues and willingness to engage respectfully with diverse perspectives. Open-mindedness and curiosity are essential.
- Travel Capability: Ability to travel internationally to Istanbul, Turkey. EVA provides airfare support but requires you to travel to the conference location.

Step-by-Step Application Process
The application is straightforward and designed to identify passionate, thoughtful participants. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Access Application Portal

Step 2: Complete Personal Information

Write a brief 250-word response to a prompt about a current global issue. Choose any topic from the debate tracks and share your perspective thoughtfully.
Step 6: Provide Academic Reference
Submit contact information for one academic recommender (teacher, professor, or mentor) who can speak to your intellectual engagement and communication skills.
Step 7: Upload Documents
Submit your CV/resume (optional) and a copy of a valid passport or ID. Documents help with logistics and visa arrangements if needed.
